Smith Water
AOTEAROA NEW ZEALAND WATERMAKER TO THE WORLD
Aotearoa New Zealand, an isolated archipelago over 1,600 kilometers long, sits at the bottom of the South Pacific in the path of westerly winds, which unload prodigious amounts of rainfall (uanga) as they fly across its rugged landscape. Over 500 trillion litres of new water enters its freshwater system every year, of which less than 10 trillion litres are extracted for human purposes. Blessed with an abundance of mineral water (wai maori), Aotearoa New Zealand is uniquely positioned to make this life-sustaining element and share it with the world.
The principal source of Smith Spring Water is the rainfall collected on the remote and native-forested Mamaku range in the North Island (Te Ika-a-Maui: the Fish of Maui).
It is held in a vast aquifer that discharges 60 million litres per day through an ignimbrite fracture known by Maori as Te Puna. Filtered for over 50 years by a terroir consisting of an ancient volcanic plateau, sandy soil and silicic pumice, Smithwater is high in silica content and deliciously smooth to taste.
Smith Spring Water is a collaborative project between Drinksmith, Aotearoa New Zealand and ECN Hospitality Japan that offers a premium table water in an elegant glass container ergonomically fashioned for restaurants and timeless to behold.
A soft water with a neutral pH, a gentle bead and a light minerality that is refreshing to the palate, Smithwater is the perfect accompaniment for your dining experience.
